1830's Mens Fashion

The 1830's were a time when France once again became the center of fashion, pleasure and luxury, due to the dazzling court of Napoleon III and his wife, Empress Eugénie.

By the later half of the 1830's, menswear became more simplified and less gaudy, although nipped waists were still very much in vogue, as was the extravagant use of hair oils, necessitating the use of antimacassars on the backs of chairs to protect them from staining.
